There are hundreds of ways to make ‘genuine’ Italian red sauce, however, some of these recipes can take you hours to make, and we don’t all have this time when you get back from work, gym or whatever you are filling your days with.

This is the easiest way to make the red sauce and it will fool even the finest of pallets. One pan, quick blend, serve!

So go ahead and try it for yourself. We guarantee you that it will be among your favourite recipes because this Italian sauce is easy and delicious.

Ingredients for no stress Italian red sauce:

  • 2 Cans of chopped or plum tomatoes
  • ½ White onion (rough cut)
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • ½ Carrot (peeled and sliced)
  • 1 tsp Sugar or honey or substitute
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, and rosemary will do)
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • A handful of fresh basil


  1. Add all ingredients to a glass baking dish, mix well, and place in the oven at 200 degrees for 45 minutes.
  2. Take out and stir well, and place again in the oven for a further 20 minutes until the tips of the onion start going black.
  3. Take it out, remove the carrots and discard. And blend in a mixer or mash with a fork until you have the desired texture. And season to taste, and add chopped basil.

WE’RE NOT JOKING. THAT’S IT! Serve as your pasta sauce with some parmesan or use it as a pizza sauce. This is truly a household favourite as it’s wholesome, easy and who doesn’t like pizza or pasta…. Seriously???!
