Valentine’s Day is here and we got you covered with a last minute recipe that will impress your other half. Just cut the dough with a heart-shaped cookie cutter and put them in a nice box maybe add a ribbon. If you are single they will make your eyes water with joy.

Ingredients:

  • 280 g of butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 85 g of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 310 g of flour
  • 110 g of cornstarch
  • 2 tbs of milk
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Cream butter with sugar, egg yolk, salt, and vanilla extract until fluffy – we did it by hand so the butter will heat up in our hands.
  2. Add in milk and mix well.
  3. Fold in flour and cornstarch and mix until dough become soft but not stick to the hands.
  4. Preheat oven to 180 degree and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll the dough to 6mm thick. Cut into rounds or whatever shapes you wish using cookie cutters.
  5. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets and place in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes. This will firm up the dough so the cookies will maintain their shape when baked (for an extra flavour you can sprinkle them with a bit of sugar – regular not powdered – for that extra crunch)
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, or until cookies are lightly brown. Cool on rack.
  7. And they are ready to serve!
