Grilled veggies, especially grilled asparagus. for me is the best part of a barbecue. But it wasn’t always so.

When I was a kid we only have meat on the barbecue and nobody heard anything about grilled veggies. And now it is a completely different story. I can’t imagine a barbecue without at least some grilled vegetables or even a grill that in majority is comprised of “the green stuff”.

Not that I am a vegetarian… Actually far from it. But nowadays this is my preferred way of eating vegetables such as asparagus, aubergine or courgette. Here you can find how I like to prepare aubergine and courgette.

Servings: 4 person

Ingredients

  • 0,5 kg asparagus (green and thin ones are the best
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp/pinch salt

Instructions

  • Wash and prepare the asparagus. Detailed instructions on how to prepare it you will find in this article. I prefer to snap the endings that to cut them 🙂 As we are using thin green asparugus there is no need to peel them.
  • Sprinkle the olive oil and salt over the clean asparagus
  • Heat up your barbecue. I am using an electric version as I live in an apartment building and that way I can have barbecue whenever I want (even in winter time)
  • Spread the asparagus evenly over the barbecue – if you are using a traditional barbecue we recommend to use a special tray for them as when they will be grilling the will become soft and the tray will limit the unnecessary loss of the veggies)
  • The asparagus should be ready within 5-10 minutes. You should turn them over half way through unless your using doble sided heat electric barbecue (meaning it grilles the veggies from both top and bottom at the same time.
  • And they are ready to be served! Enjoy.

On a side not I love to make them for breakfast I put them on the barbecue and then hop into a shower, When I’m done that are ready for me. So just putting them on a nice loaf of bread or toast and an amazing breakfast is ready!
