Today we will present you the recipe for the most popular grill dish in Russia. We’re talking about famous meat shish kebabs that are also called shashlik. Without these dish it is not possible to have a picnic, a trip to the countryside to the so-called datcha (cottage) and other outdoor events around the grill.

Standard meat shashlik is a very demanding dish. Often happens that the lady of the house glotes with her way of marinading the meat. Some have their secrets to make the meat soft. However, traditionally it’s men who should cook this dish. It is said that it can’t endure women’s hands. Maybe stuffing meat on a skewer, especially metal ones, is actually worth giving to men. But meat can be marinated by every lady of the house. With our recipe, it will take only 5 miniutes.

The recipe we share with you today will be especially useful when you forgot to prepare the meat earlier and you do not have a few hours to marinate it. Here, you only need half an hour, which is what it takes to light a traditional grill. So get to work!

Ingredients

  • 0.5 kg of pork meat
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp hot ground pepper preferably wóddzonej
  • 2 tbsp Svaneti salt you can use ordinary salt
  • 1 tbsp Khmeli-suneli spice
  • 2 glass sparkling water
  • skewers wood or metal

Instructions

  • First, cut the meat into square pieces about 5 cm in size.
  • Then cut the onion into rings
  • Add all spices to the meat and mix thoroughly with your hands in a large bowl.
  • Next add the chopped onion to the meat and mix again thoroughly.
  • Now add vinegar and sparkling water to the bowl of meat, and mix.
  • Finally, the meat should be covered with plastic wrap and leave it aside for at least half an hour (the longer, the better). During this time, you can light a barbecue if you cook on a classic grill.
  • After this time, stuff the meat on the skewers alternating it with onion rings.
  • Grill the shashlik on both sides. Be careful not to dry the meat too much, remove it, as soon as you see that it is already baked inside.
  • And it’s ready!
