We’re talking about the crab salad, which is very popular in Eastern Europe countries: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and practically in all the countries from the former Soviet Union. In each family, you will find a different version of this salad, but it certainly will be on every festive table. Most frequently the crab salad is served on New Year’s Eve. We will present to you today the classic version of this salad and two new versions. Maybe we also will inspire you to create your own version?

Ingredients for crab salad:
- 200 g of crab sticks surimi
- 1 can of sweet corn (200 g)
- 100 g of rice
- 50 g of mayonnaise
- 50 g of sour yogurt (natural)
- 4 eggs
- bunch of
dill - optional: 1 cucumber, half of the broccoli
Method:
- First, we cook rice and hard boil the eggs.
- We cut the hard-boiled eggs and crab sticks into small cubes.
- Pour water out of the corn can.
- Take a large bowl and mix in it: corn, rice, diced crab sticks and eggs.
- Mix mayonnaise with natural yoghurt, add to the other ingredients and mix again thoroughly. We offer you a healthier version of the salad dressing, but if you prefer, you can use only mayonnaise. Using only the yoghurt you cannot achieve give the same taste, but you can change the proportions of mayonnaise to yoghurt as you like.
- Chop finely the dill, add it to the salad and mix everything again thoroughly. Now the classic version of crab salad is ready. But we will show you two more versions of this salad.
- Cut the cucumber into small cubes and add to the salad – this is how we get the version of the crab salad with cucumber.
- Blanch half of broccoli, cut the florets into small pieces and add it to the salad – this is how we get a version of the crab salad with broccoli.
